A Baby Shower

... back to Jane Linley-Thomas' blog

This past week end I did one of my all time  favourite things to do... I threw a party. A very special party. It was my sister's baby shower. Yip, next month I am going be an aunty. How divine that Cooper has a cousin so near his age. I sense those two are going to be a messy handful in a few years.

The decor was white and silver. A white laid table decorated with strings of silver beads, pearls and silver and white napkins. The outside veranda was filled with hanging lace paper hearts, chrystals and origami paper birds suspended off fishing nylon...

In the invite I had asked all the ladies to come dressed as a pregnant mum, so you can imagine the hysterical laughter as each pillow-stuffed-into-an-outfit popped through the door.

The biggest hit of the morning was the cake. Oh my! I found Zolita Harper online [Durban based], and by the pictures I kind of knew she was a hot shot, but she so exceeded my expectations... How is this cake!

India's Baby Shower cake by Zolita

The whole party had their cell phones out frantically taking pictures of the edible amazement. Zolita also made 30 cupcakes, each iced with a different iced goodie on top. From a baby bib, teddy, nappy, puzzle piece, button, rubber duck... nothing is too much of an ask. What a talented lady!

Just as well we had the cupcakes, as we didn't end up cutting the cake because everytime we got close to cutting it my sister decided that she just couldn't!

So the cake has been frozen, and is on its way to JHB and will be on proud display for a 2nd time at India's Christening (after which I wouldn't be surprised if it was set in gold and kept for her next child).

Zolita you are such a find and as I mentioned to you, you will always be my first port of cake call for every special occasion!
