A woman sitting with husband says, "I love you." He asks, "Is that you or the wine talking?" She replies, "It's me ... talking to the wine!"
I told this joke at my weekly mosaic class last night and it really went down well. And yes, we were all sitting around drinking wine! It really is so important as a mom to have a group of women that you can get together with regularly - to share support, friendship, a few laughs and a good bottle of wine if you're lucky.
Last night we also chatted about birthday parties and the super ideas moms have when it comes to birthday cakes. One mom shared how she bought a mould, a tub each of Vanilla and Chocolate ice-cream and for under R70 made her own ice-cream cake. Another mom had a fabulous idea to make a doughnut tower cake by simply stacking a selection of doughnuts into circles starting from biggest to smallest.
This is the best part of being in community with other moms: the sharing of ideas. Moms are so resourceful and pretty darn clever I'd say! We come up with ways to save time, money and energy while still giving our families the best that we can. So, on that note, I invite you to share! Share your fun and fabulous ideas, tips and hints with us! Lets start with your great birthday cake idea (send it to us here).
Easter is almost upon us and I am sure you are planning your Easter egg hunts, family getaways and Sunday lunches. We've curated the web to bring you some fun Easter craft ideas, sure to keep you and your brood busy. Due to the holiday, our newsletter next week will be early so keep a look out for it. And don't forget to enter our fabulous competitions
this week.
With love,

PS: If you find yourself needing wine this holiday, check out 'Moms Who Need Wine' on Facebook - you won't feel alone!

| Introduction |
| 8 April 2011, 13:37 |
"One measure of leadership is the caliber of people who choose to follow you." - Dennis A. Peer
Stepping into someone else's shoes can be quite overwhelming. As I sit here on the eve of my very first MomsMatter newsletter I am sweaty-palmed and my restless right foot is twitching nervously but I am also so excited to get to know all of you. The quote above is a real testament to the fantastic job that Deb has done so far in 'leading' and steering the site. MomsMatter is currently receiving over 1000 unique visitors each day and we have over 6000 newsletter subscribers. Wow! Those kind of stats don't just happen by accident. I know that MomsMatter is adding great value to your life as Moms, and my plan is to ensure that it continues to do just that.
We've updated and refreshed the site a little and will continue to do so in the coming weeks (please forgive any glitches as we will be working as we go) but for now not much will be different. We do have some exciting plans that we will be rolling out in the next 6-12 months and here's a little insight into some of the great stuff you can look forward to later this year: a fresh new design, lots of original content brought you by various experts in their own fields, weekly recipes including cookbook reviews and meal plans, more blogs, interviews with real moms, bigger competitions and some exciting MomsMatter events (eeeek, I can barely contain myself).
Now, your input is extremely valuable to us, so please stay in touch: let us know what you would like, love, hate, need and want to see on MomsMatter. And please pass this newsletter onto your friends and let's keep building this powerful community.
It's great to 'meet' you! 3 cheers for Moms who Matter!
Your new editor,
